Coupon Class Day Three- Coupon Lingo

I highly recommend checking out Hotcouponworld.com. It is by far the best site that matches up coupons and deals. It is a HUGE forum that matches up coupons and alerts you of savings at any store you can think of. As awesome as this site is- it can be overwhelming for beginning couponers. To make it a little easier I thought I would write out a little coupon lingo so you can understand the posts.

BOGO- Buy one get one free

B1G1- Buy one get one free

Blinky- coupons on display that a little machine dispenses..usually has a blinking light

Cat or Catalina- a coupon that prints off a little machine at a register. Different manufacturer’s have different promotions. For example buy 2 general mills cereal and receive a Cat for $1.00 off your next order.

CRT- Cash Register Tape (your receipt)

ECB’s- Extra Care Bucks (these are from the CVS program…they are like CVS “cash”)

FAR- Free after rebate

IP- Internet printable

MFR- manufacturer

MIR- mail in rebate

ONYO- on your next order

OOP- out of pocket

Peelie- a peel off coupon found on products

Q- coupon

RP- Redplum- an insert found in newspapers

SS- Smartsource- an insert found in newspapers

UPC- bar code on an item

WYB- when you buy

Coupon Class Day 2: Electronic coupons

E coupons are a great new way to get even more savings on your grocery bills. You can add your shoppers card numbers to these E coupon sites and the coupon amount will be automatically taken off your bill at the register! No need to print or clip paper coupons. These coupons cannot be doubled or used more than once. They are a one time use, with an expiration date.

All you need to do is got to the 3 sites below, register your information, load the coupons to your shoppers cards, and print the coupon list so that you know what coupons are on your card.

Make sure to add your email address to these sites. You will automatically get emails sent to you when new coupons are available to load. You can use a paper manufacturer coupon ON TOP pf an E coupon for the same product for maximum savings. For example…Kroger could have Betty Crocker fruit snacks on sale for $1.99. You can use a .55 cent off E coupon and a .55 cent manufacturer’s coupon for a total of $1.10 off!!

Welcome!!! Coupon Class- Day 0ne- finding coupons

Ok, I have had a bunch of friends and family ask for a simple step by step on using coupons. I am going to basically be starting an online coupon class for my local area. You can use my techniques for any area, but I will be posting my local area deals and savings specifically.

Day one- Buy 2 St. Louis Post-Dispatch papers on Sundays. Then call everyone you know and get as many free Sunday coupon inserts from any papers you can get. My second choice is the Belleville paper. The POST has the best coupons though. I will guarantee you will save well over the $3 a week you will spend on the papers.

Buy a coupon organizer. I will post pictures on Monday of mine. When you get a bunch of coupons you will need a big organizer. For beginners you can just start with an accordion style one from Walmart or the dollar store.

Save ALL coupons. I never ever BUY items I won’t or don’t use. I will however take them if they are free and donate or give them away, and many items I get PAID to take. We will cover all that later, but believe me…keep every single coupon you can get your hands on.

Do not toss expired coupons. Kroger’s has a program where they send the expires to the military and their families. They are allowed to use expired coupons and it is a great way to help those that serve our country.

Read all the articles on this site to get an idea of what is going on. Manufacturer coupons…How to Maximize your savings is a great one to start with.

Go to COUPONS.COM and download the coupon bar. We will get many needed coupons from this site. Kroger, Walmart, Tom’s and CVS all take Internet printables.

Go to:

www.Kroger.com and register your Kroger card. YOu will gt many awesome coupons in the mail from this.

www.CVS.com and sign up for a CVS card if you don’t have one. If you have one, register your card and you get a very valuable coupon sent to you.

I shop Kroger, CVS, and Walmart mainly. Our local Tom’s will sometimes have rockin deals that I will also get. Walgreens has a program similar to CVS, but I find CVS works best for me. Target also sometimes has some pretty awesome deals worth driving to get. I will always update Kroger, CVS, and Walmart. If there are awesome deals at Target, Tom’s or Walgreen’s I will also mention those. If you head over to www.hotcouponworld.com you can find deals for every store there is. This site takes awhile to navigate and get used to, but it has some awesome information. I will be writing a blog post on Hotcouponworld’s best features and easy ways to understand it.
